Pork and Apple Meatballs

Ingredients

  • 500 g lean pork mince
  • 1 granny smith apple, peeled and grated
  • 1/2 cup wholemeal or multigrain fresh breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 brown onion, peeled and grated
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh sage (or parsley). Ground Fennel also makes a great substitute

Method

  • 1

Pre-heat oven to 200 degrees. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
  • 2

Peel and grate the apple and onion on a box grater. You really want the onion fine so don’t be tempted to dice it.
  • 3

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix well with hands in a circular motion to ensure well combined.
  • 4

Form into meatballs (whatever size suits your little eaters) and place on lined baking tray.
  • 5

Place in oven and cook approx. 12-20 mins depending on the size of your meatballs. They should be golden and cooked through.
  • 6

Either serve immediately, portion into snap lock bags for freezing or store in airtight container in the fridge.
